Yoga Flow

Yoga is a great activity for  all ages and fitness levels!

Comfortably located, all sessions are held locally at the Library Learning Centre Community Room (5300 55 St Close).

Yoga is an activity that provides overall wellness – physically, emotionally, and mentally. Through regular practice, yoga can increase flexibility, strength, and the range of motion to the body. There are a variety of different techniques and focuses in yoga; however, all include postures and movement, breath and body awareness, and a meditative focus.

Benefits of Yoga for Seniors

Yoga can be a wonderful form of activity for seniors. As we get older, muscles tend to stiffen, joints lose their range of motion and chronic problems such as osteoporosis, arthritis and heart disease become a greater risk. Yoga can help slow down the process of aging by maintaining muscle elasticity and flexibility, reduce the swelling of joints while strengthening the muscles, engagement of the mind for alertness and wakefulness, as well as increase overall mobility, balance and stability. The following is a short list of benefits (when practiced regularly, 2 -3 times/week): 

  • Increased mobility and strength
  • Reduced swelling of joints
  • Improved stability and balance reducing chances of falls
  • Improved cardiovascular health
  • Improved sleep
  • Improved attitude and well-being

Kundalini Yoga

This is the yoga of awareness. By focusing attention on breathing, physical exercise, relaxation, sound (mantra) and meditation, we work to feel an energy. An energy that has the power to open your heart, mind and soul. It is designed to feel benefits right from the first class! No experience is necessary and all levels of fitness are welcome.

Hatha Yoga

Recharge and renew. Connect with breath to open the body and calm the "monkey" mind. Explore postures with gentle flows, meditation and deep relaxation to release tension and feel more centered. You will work to increase coordination, flexibility, balance and strength.

Noon Hour Yin Yoga

Take a break from your busy day and connect to inner stillness with Noon Hour Yin Yoga Class! Yin consists of slow-paced, long-held supported poses that target the deeper connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine. A unique practice that invites you to relax in the posture, soften your muscles and nourish your fascia, joints and ligaments.

Do you need flexibility not only for your body but also with your busy schedule? Then choose a convenient Yoga Punch Pass card – available for purchase at the Town Office.

The six punch pass is only $90 and allows you access to all yoga classes from the start to the end dates in the yoga classes listed above. Choose either discipline with over 50 classes to choose from!
