Here's a look at highlights from last night's Town Council meeting. Please note these are not official minutes.
Cross Connection Financial Assistance
Council resolved that the Town offer a lump sum of $3,500 to residents whose properties have a ‘cross connection’ between the wastewater system and the storm drainage system. The approved funding will aid affected property owners in their mandatory correction of this issue. A budget of $15,000 was allocated for 2017.
Council approved several motions and a bylaw pertaining to the upcoming municipal election in October. The Library Learning Centre Community Room was confirmed as the venue. Advance polls were confirmed for Oct. 6, 7 and 14. The election will be held Oct. 16.
Lions Club Playground Feature Installation
Council approved the provision and installation of a new ‘Zip Krooz’ playground feature at Raspberry (Lions) Park. The proposal for the new feature was brought forth by the Innisfail Lions Club, which will assume all costs associated with its installation. Once the feature has been installed, the Town will assume ownership and be reponsible for its care and maintenance.
Council heard from three delegations at the start of the meeting. Representatives from the RCMP, the Innisfail Historical Village Society and the Innisfail Lions Club discussed their respective organizations’ ongoing programs and activities.
