Following a nationwide search lasting more than half a year, Innisfail Town Council has hired a new chief administrative officer.

Todd Becker, current CAO for the Town of Rocky Mountain House, was announced as the successful candidate on Friday, June 30. He’ll work his first day in Innisfail on Tuesday, Aug. 8.

The appointment, according to Innisfail Mayor Brian Spiller, is an exceptional one.

“We’re beyond pleased to have agreed terms with Mr. Becker, who throughout the interview process stood out as the clear choice for Council,” he said. “His extensive experience, remarkable temperament, and broad familiarity with the Central Alberta region make him the ideal candidate for the job.

“We’re extremely excited about the prospect of working with him.”

Spiller acknowledged the lasting contributions of current CAO Helen Dietz, who’s retiring after more than 30 years in municipal government.

“Helen’s contributions to this town have been tremendous, and she’s leaving it in an outstanding position,” he said. “She’ll be deeply missed, but we wish her well in her future endeavours.”
