The tag line created in 2011 to help Innisfail sell itself has been deemed a bust and the town is removing it from all promotional materials.

VIA THE INNISFAIL PROVINCE, Nov. 10, 2015: The town has gotten down to budget business for 2016 and the current tough economy will play a part in every decision they make.

“It will be a consideration. I can’t tell you what council will do because I am only one vote on there,” said Mayor Brian Spiller. “We don’t know what is coming ahead in the future for the town, and with economic things happening like the shutdown of Purina’s production end that will affect our tax base and 40-some families too, we have to be mindful of that.”

VIA THE INNISFAIL PROVINCE, Nov. 10, 2015: The town has cancelled its Roots of Empathy program due to a recent whooping cough outbreak in the area.

In a media release, town officials noted the outbreak was first declared by Alberta Health Services (AHS) 11 months ago. At the beginning of the 2014-15 school year AHS warned the outbreak was still in effect, and advised parents to watch for signs of the illness in their children.

VIA THE INNISFAIL PROVINCE, Nov. 10, 2015: Innisfailians will see a hike in their utility bills in the coming year.

Town council recently approved franchise fee rates for both FortisAlberta, which supplies electrical power to the community, and ATCO Gas. Council decided not to raise franchise fee rates for both utility companies.

VIA THE INNISFAIL PROVINCE, Nov. 10, 2015: A trio of local social service agencies are getting more funding before the end of the year.

Town council was told at its Oct. 26 regular meeting that the local Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Board met on Oct. 14 to discuss $40,000 of unused funding that was still available for 2015, including $4,250 from the Innisfail Family Centre.
