VIA THE INNISFAIL PROVINCE, April 21, 2015: The 2015 Spring Registration Night was deemed a celebration of connections.

More than 120 citizens came to the Innisfail Library/Learning Centre during the evening of April 14 to browse through displays of 35 local groups that represented a wide range of community social groups, sports organizations, as well as arts, gardening and recreational clubs. Everyone who attended had a chance to register from an extensive list of programs.

VIA THE INNISFAIL PROVINCE, April 21, 2015: Town council has decided to cut its previously announced property tax increase in half.

Last December, council voted in favour of a two per cent tax hike for 2015, an increase that would have brought an additional $144,000 into town coffers. But at council’s regular meeting on April 13 a compromise to cut the tax increase to one per cent was reached, and the town will make do with $72,000 in additional tax revenues. The average residential home assessed at $363,304 will now be taxed an extra $70.19, instead of the $90 it would have with a two per cent increase.

Exciting upgrades are coming to the Napoleon Lake Trail System

The Rotary Club of Innisfail and the Town of Innisfail have teamed up to make the trail system around the west side of Napoleon Lake even better.

At its April 13 meeting, Innisfail Council adopted the Napoleon Lake Trail Upgrade concept plan as a guide for trail and park improvements along the lake’s west side.

The Town and the Rotary Club have spent the past several months working on the final concept for the upgrades that included the development of concept drawings, a preliminary project budget estimated at $92,000 and the collection of public input on these concepts.

Pickup starts April 27

Yard waste schedule starts April 27 for pick up at 7am each Monday (including statutory holidays) throughout the summer months. Residents can place their lawn clippings, leaves and branches out at the same location as their regular garbage. Materials must be in a marked bin or bundled. No plastic bags please.
