Council Highlights – September 27, 2021

The following are highlights from the Monday, September 27 Regular Meeting of Council.


Delegation – Alicia Fox, Alberta Rural Health Professions Action Plan (RhPAP)

Alicia Fox, the area representative for RhPAP, provided Town Council with an introduction to the organization, a review of its action plan, and an overview of the organization’s resources.

Delegation – Investment Grade Audit Presentation

Kyle Kasawski from the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA) and Darryl Hill of TRANE presented council with an overview of possible energy-saving projects and their benefits in the face of anticipated rising energy prices. As some of these projects may be eligible for grant assistance, Council approved a motion to accept the report as information and directed Administration to further examine opportunities to pursue potential infrastructure upgrade funding.

CAO Report – Community Economic Development Advisory Group (EDAG)

The Town’s CAO Todd Becker informed Council that Patricia Bourne has been named as the chairperson of the Community Economic Advisory Group, formed earlier this year. After hearing details of the group’s first formal meeting, Council approved a motion to proceed with a recommended Business Retention & Expansion (BRE) survey engagement program followed by a second motion to initiate an Economic Development Engagement Plan. Council also accepted the CAO report as information.

2022 Parkland Regional Library Budget

The Parkland Regional Library (PRL), through an agreement, provides library services within the Town. A proposed 2022 budget developed by PRL, in compliance with the Libraries Act and the Parkland Regional Library’s Budget Policy, was presented to Council with a slight increase due to a change in the method used by the province for calculating population data. Council carried a motion to approve the budget as presented.

Verbal Report – Community Wheelchair-accessible Van

Director or Community Services Meghan Jenkins provided Council with a report on the Transportation Committee’s findings surrounding the procurement of a wheelchair-accessible van to be used as a part of the Town’s transportation assets. Council passed a motion to accept the report as information.

COVID-19 Recreation Facilities Update

Director of Community Services Meghan Jenkins updated Council on the Town’s recent implementation of restrictions as required by provincial health orders. A motion was passed to accept the report as information.


Innisfail Town Council strives to maintain a level of openness with its residents. The highlights only briefly touch upon the exchanges and decisions reached during the most recent Council meeting.
