The following are highlights from the Monday, November 8, 2021 Regular Meeting of Council.
CAO Report – Council Goals and Objectives
As part of his report, Town CAO Todd Becker recommended that Council initiate its strategic planning discussions to determine Council’s goals and objectives during the current term. After receiving the full CAO Report, Council carried a motion to accept the report as information.
ECC Update
CAO Becker provided an update on the current state of the Town’s on-going response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. As part of the report, CAO Becker informed Council of a developing non-compliance issue with a user-group at the Innisfail Arena. After brief discussion, Council passed a motion to accept the report as information.
Complaints Policy Review
Administration provided Council with an overview of the Town’s Complaints Policy, which provides guidelines and standards for the efficient and effective resolution of concerns raised by the public. After review, Council accepted a motion to accept the policy as information.
Respectful Workplace Policy
The Town’s Respectful Workplace Policy was originally approved by Council in June of 2021. Since that time, Administration identified and updated three items within the policy. These include a clarification on the procedure plan, inclusion of a Domestic Violence section, and inclusion of a Special Circumstances section. The updated policy was then reviewed by the Town’s Joint Health and Safety Committee. On November 8, the updated policy was presented to Council for approval. After brief discussion, Council carried motions to approve the updated Respectful Workplace Policy and repeal the previous policy.
Aquatic Centre Multiplex Project Overview
Earlier, previous Town Council had been presented with information demonstrating that the Aquatic Centre required significant renovations. At that point, Council began discussions about the possible development of a new multi-use facility. At the November 8 meeting, Administration provided current Council with an overview of the project history, including a review of the most recent set of project proposals. Discussion included possible funding opportunities and next steps in the process, after which Council approved a motion to accept the report as information.
November 2021 – Family Violence prevention Month
Council approved a motion to declare November 2021 as Family Violence Prevention Month in the Town of Innisfail.
Innisfail Town Council strives to maintain a level of openness with its residents. The highlights only briefly touch upon the exchanges and decisions reached during the most recent Council meeting.
