The following are highlights from the August 26, 2019 regular meeting of council.
Committee Effectiveness Survey
Administrative staff updated Town Council on the development of an online survey to measure the effectiveness of the current boards and committees established by Town Council; all sitting committee members will be asked to complete the survey. The purpose is to gauge the administration, mandate & roles, functionality, and communication of existing Town of Innisfail Committees of Council. Council accepted the report as information.
Council Remuneration & Benefits Committee
According to existing policy, Town Council shall appoint an ad hoc committee consisting solely of public members every two years to review Council remuneration and benefits. Council was updated on activities associated with this committee. The vacancies have been advertised and Town staff is currently collecting applications. Council accepted the report as information.
RFD – Public Lands Lease Request
After a public request to use Town land currently zoned as Public Use District, it has been determined that the land in question would require a change in zoning. Council gave Town staff direction to inform the party involved that a rezoning application is required to proceed with this request. Council also directed Town staff to develop a policy to address the use, lease and/or sale of public lands.
Utility Billing Fee
A formal bylaw to remove a monthly $3 fee that was previously part of the Utility Bylaw was presented to council and was subsequently passed.
