The following are highlights from the December 14, 2020 Regular Meeting of Council.
Bylaw 1470-A70 to amend the Land Use Bylaw – Secondary Suite Provisions
An application was received by the Town to amend the Land Use Bylaw to allow for the inclusion of secondary suites as a discretionary use within the R1-N District and to allow secondary suites within accessory structures as a discretionary use in the R1-C District. After a public hearing, a motion to adopt the bylaw was passed at Monday’s meeting.
Town of Innisfail 2021 Operating and Capital Budgets passed
Extensive meetings took place between Council and Administration in November at which Administration presented the proposed 2021 operations and capital budgets. After that meeting, Administrative staff amended the budget to reflect the directions given by Council. On Monday, the amended 2021 budget was presented to Council and was passed.
Mask Use Policy for Town of Innisfail Staff
A policy was drafted to outline the requirements for mandatory mask use by Town employees and Council members in Town facilities and work sites. This policy does not pertain to the public. The policy ensures that staff are maintaining established guidelines and that the Town is providing a safe and healthy work environment. A motion to adopt the policy was carried.
Bylaw 1650-2020 – 2021 Municipal Election Bylaw
New provincial legislation requires the Town to pass a new Municipal Election Bylaw. Under the new legislation, candidates may now submit their nomination for election as early as January 2021. After brief discussion, a motion to pass the new bylaw was carried.
FCSS Funding Recommendations
The Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Advisory Board met on November 25 to discuss recommendations for the distribution of FCSS grant funding available for 2021 in the amount of $134,000. Based on those discussions, the Town’s FCSS Coordinator presented recommendations for the distribution of 2021 FCSS grant funds. Council approved the disbursement of the funds as presented.
Regular Meeting of Council, December 29 cancelled
A motion to cancel the Regular Meeting of Council scheduled for December 29 was carried. The next Agendas & Priorities Meeting will take place on December 21, and the next Regular Meeting of Council will take place in January, 2021.
