The following are highlights from the May 25, 2020 regular meeting of council.
COVID-19: Renewed Prosperity Framework
To build upon the three focus areas that Council approved at the May 11, 2020 meeting, administration proposed moving ahead with a new action-based recovery plan for the town. This plan has been developed to evolve as the characteristics of the global pandemic change. The elements of this plan will become more pertinent as the Government of Alberta moves through its announced relaunch and recovery phases. On Monday, Council approved the proposed framework, entitled Moving Forward: A Path to Renewed Prosperity, as a set of guiding principles for the town’s strategic economic and social recovery.
Innisfail Skatepark Sponsorship Package
The Town’s operations department, overseeing the construction and development of the Innisfail Skatepark, initiated development of a sponsorship package to be used to approach potential sponsorship partners. The final draft of the package was approved by Council as presented.
Next Regular Meeting of Council – June 9, 2020
The scheduled date of the next Regular Meeting of Council falls on the same date as the June 8, 2020 by-election. Council unanimously agreed to move the date of the next Regular Meeting of Council to June 9, 2020 to allow the newly-elected councillor to participate.
Seniors’ Week – June 1-7, 2020
In alignment with a provincial initiative, the Town of Innisfail declared June 1-7, 2020 as Seniors’ Week.
