The following are highlights from the Monday, November 22, 2021 Regular Meeting of Council.
IPSOS Citizen Satisfaction Survey Review
Earlier this year, the Town engaged the services of the firm Ipsos to conduct a Citizen Satisfaction Survey, which was completed this fall. A report containing highlights of the survey were presented to the previous Town Council in October. On Monday, Director of Corporate Services Erica Vickers presented current Council with a review of the survey. A request was made by Council to include some of the report information as part of the 2022 Budget Deliberation process. Council then approved a motion to accept the report as presented.
Sale of Closed Road Right-of-way
Earlier this year, Council passed a bylaw to close an undeveloped right-of-way after approval by Alberta Transportation. At the November 22 Meeting of Council, the Town’s Manager of Community Development, Gordon Shaw, presented Council with two recommended actions. One authorizes Administration to enter into a land purchase agreement with an interested party, and the other authorizes Administration to enter into a land acquisition agreement with the same party for the future acquisition of land for a public road right-of-way. Council approved both recommended motions.
Safety Code Services Agreement
Gordon Shaw, Manager of Community Development, presented Council with a recommendation to authorize Administration to enter into a service-related agreement with Superior Safety Codes Inc. to provide the Town’s plumbing, gas, and electrical inspection services. Council approved the recommended motion as presented.
Emergent Expense – Arena Condenser
Director of Community Services Meghan Jenkins provided Council with information on an immediate need to replace a condenser unit at the Innisfail Twin Arenas. The new condenser comes at a cost of $112,000 and currently requires 20 weeks delivery time. After brief discussion, Council approved the expense.
