The following are highlights from the Monday, October 23, 2023 Regular Meeting of Town Council.
CAO Report – Red Deer Regional Municipal Users Group (RDRMUG) Letter of Support
After meeting with representatives from RDRMUG, Town CAO Todd Becker proposed that Council provide a letter of support to the group. With future demand in mind, RDRMUG is looking to secure funding for a study on potential midstream storage on the Red Deer River. At the Oct. 23 Meeting, Council carried a motion to provide the proposed letter of support.
2023 Third-Quarter Financials Update
At the Oct. 23, 2023 Meeting, Administration provided Council with a third-quarter financial report for 2023. The financials show an overall revenue of 87% of budget and an overall expense of 60% of budget. Council carried a motion approving the Town of Innisfail 2023 Third-Quarter Financial Report as presented.
Organizational Meeting of Town Council – October 23, 2023
Innisfail Town Council is required to hold an organizational meeting each year. These meetings provide Council with an opportunity to address items that pertain directly to Council-related operations. On Monday, October 23, 2023, Council held an organizational meeting to discuss and review: amendments to the terms of reference for the Community Economic Advisory Group and the Policing and Safe Community Committee; Council appointments to boards and committees; and, public member vacancies on Council Boards and Committees. Multiple motions relating to these agenda items were carried.
Deputy Mayor – Swearing In
Councillor Cindy Messaros was sworn in as the Deputy Mayor for the period running from November 2023 to the end of February 2024.
Innisfail Town Council strives to maintain a level of openness with its residents. The highlights only briefly touch upon the exchanges and decisions reached during the most recent Council meeting.
