Organizational Meeting – Council Swearing-In, Appointment of Deputy Mayor
Before the October 25 Regular Meeting of Town Council, an Organizational Meeting took place to swear in the newly elected members of Council. Each new member took an oath of office, and a motion to appoint Councillor Don Harrison as Deputy Mayor was passed. Council then appointed representatives to the various committees in which the Town participates.
Council Procedures Bylaw
CAO Todd Becker provided Council with a comprehensive review of the Town’s Council Procedures Bylaw, giving Council a clear idea of protocols and procedures involved in governance. After the review, a motion was passed to receive the report as information.
Code of Conduct Bylaw
CAO Becker provided Council with an overview of the Code of Conduct Bylaw, highlighting the responsibilities and duties contained in the bylaw. Council then passed a motion to receive the report as information.
2022 Budget Deliberations Date
Administration presented Council with a proposed set of dates for upcoming budget deliberations. After brief discussion, the dates for these meetings were set for November 24, 25, and 26, 2021. A motion to accept these dates was then passed.
Council – Initial Areas of Focus
Mayor Jean Barclay identified items that she would like to see advanced, including a review of the Town’s Procurement Policy (including an awareness campaign about the Alberta Purchasing Connection website) and possible actions regarding advancing development of the former lagoon land. A motion was passed directing Administration to provide more information on these items at a future meeting.
