The following are highlights from the October 26, 2020 Regular Meeting of Council.
Town of Innisfail – Third-Quarter Financial Report
Director of Corporate Services Heather Whymark provided Council with the Town’s 2020 third-quarter financial report, covering the period from July to September of 2020. The Town is reporting revenues comparable to 2019 third-quarter levels coming primarily from taxes, with the closure of provincial courts and Town-owned recreational facilities accounting for some revenue areas being below last year’s benchmarks. Director Whymark highlighted losses or deficits incurred due to COVID-19; however, these will likely be offset by federal and provincial funding available to municipalities through the Municipal Operating Support Transfer (MOST) grant. Council accepted the report as information.
ATCO, Fortis franchise fee rates
The Town’s Director of Corporate Services provided Council with recommendations for the ATCO Gas and Fortis franchise fees. Based on these recommendations, Council held the ATCO Gas fees at their current rate and moved to include Fortis franchise fees as part of the 2021 budget deliberations.
Deputy Mayor, Councillor Jean Barclay
Councillor Jean Barclay was sworn in as deputy mayor. Her term in the role will run until March of 2021.
