The following are highlights from the Monday, September 14, 2026 Regular Meeting of Town Council.
Request for Decision – Telus Site Lease Extension
TELUS has had a telecommunications site lease – located at 4807 52 Avenue – which has been renewed and extended multiple times. The existing lease allows TELUS to sublease or license to a third party for telecommunications purposes. TELUS has received a request to install additional third-party equipment on the site and must receive approval from the Town to complete the request. At the September 14 Meeting, Council carried a motion approving the amendment of the existing TELUS (Terrion) site lease at 4807 52 Avenue to accommodate Xplore Inc. equipment.
Request for Decision - Road Closure Bylaw 1756-2026
An undeveloped street right-of-way has not been developed and remains a heavily vegetated strip of land. Formally closing the street will enable the municipality to obtain a title so that the land can be leased or sold. The process to close a road requires a bylaw which must be approved the Minister of Transportation and Economic Corridors after a public hearing. On September 14, Council carried a motion granting first reading to Bylaw No. 1756 – 2026 to close a street as shown on Plan 6023 NY. Council then carried a second motion establishing October 13, 2026, at 3:00 pm in the Council Chambers as a public hearing date and location to receive public input on Bylaw No. 1756 – 2026.
Request for Decision - Quality Management System (QMS) Amendment
The Town is an accredited municipality under the Safety Codes Act and administers safety codes services in accordance with an approved QMS. Due to recent changes with certain Town permits, the QMS must be updated. At the September 14 Meeting, Council carried a motion approving the Town of Innisfail Quality Management System (August 2026) as presented.
