Kidproof™ Home Alone (June 28 or Aug 16)
Is your child ready to stay home alone? Kidproof At Home Alone training is designed to give children the tools and knowledge to look after themselves while at home unsupervised for short periods of time.
What the kids learn:
→ Their rights & responsibilities when at home alone
→ Safe practices when at home
→ How to respond safely to emergencies
→ How to keep constructively occupied
This program is recommended for kids 10 – 12 years of age and is not a certified course.

Merfolk Club
Experience swimming like the Merfolk! This camp will teach basic swimming skills before transitioning into merfolk monofins. These swim sessions incorporate movement skills, fitness, pool entries and exits, dolphin dives, spins, turns, and of course mermaid games. Besides the 13 swim sessions in the water with the merfolk tails, the camp will prep the Merfolk to give a demo of the skills they have learned. Best of all, the fin is yours to keep! Requirements: Must be a Swim Kids Level 5 or above or demonstrate the ability to a disorienting entry, tread water for 1 minute and swim on their front 25m. There will be no refund if your child is unable to attend the camp due to swimming capability.

Red Cross Certified Baby Sitting Course (May 17 or Aug 7, 2019)
The things every babysitter should know to become a more reliable, confident and safe babysitter. This course teaches basic first aid and the caregiver skills required for caring for younger children, as well as learn how to prevent and respond to emergencies. The course also offers training on how to promote oneself to prospective parents to babysit their children.
What the kids learn:
→ Provide caregiving skills to younger children
→ Create a safe and fun environment
→ Provide basic first aid
→ Prevent/respond in emergency situations
This is a one-day course offered two times per year
Ages: 11 – 15 years

Kid's Have Stress Too!®
“Learning to handle stress is an important life skill for everyone.”
Developed by The Psychology Foundation of Canada, the Kids Have Stress Too! program helps parents, caregivers and educators understand childhood stress, and how to provide children with the tools to deal with stress effectively. It is a broad-based primary prevention program which provides parents, caregivers, and communities with the knowledge, awareness and skills to help young people become healthier and more resilient through learning how to manage their stress. The program includes a range of resources designed for parents, those who work with young children in early learning settings and for classrooms.
The program runs from 12-16 weeks for approximately 1-hour per week. For more information, call the Community & Social Development Coordinator at 403-227-3376.

Please note: Due to the provincial COVID-19 restrictions, Town staff were unable to prepare summer programs in time for summer. The Leaders in Training program will not take place in 2021.

Life Saving Standard First Aid (Nov. 8 & 9)
This is a comprehensive 2-day course, that offers first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR Level C) skills for work requirements or for those who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies at home. This course includes the latest first aid and CPR and AED guidelines.
Certification Currency: 3 years from the date of certification.
Ages: 13+ years
Cost: $135
When: July 25-26, 2019, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
