Heavy rainfall is expected in large areas of Alberta through the early part of this week. Town of Innisfail employees are taking steps to ensure the stormwater system is in proper working order; however, heavy-rainfall events can sometimes overwhelm the stormwater system. Staff will remain diligent throughout the event to react to any challenges the system may encounter.
Residents may want to take a few steps to ensure their properties are prepared for this upcoming weather event:
- Ensure all downspouts are working properly and are unobstructed. Downspouts should direct water away from the foundation of your home and onto your lawn.
- Rain barrels should be prepared so that overflow drains away from the foundation of your home. Barrels may fill to capacity and may spill over onto the adjacent ground.
- We advise residents to be prepared in the event of any emergency. Sign up for the Alberta Emergency Alert, and use the settings to get alerts the way you want. For more ideas on how you can #BePrepared, visit https://bit.ly/3aZyCjY
