To ensure the safety and well-being of our facility users, Town staff, and the public, Town of Innisfail Administration has drafted a plan to safely re-open the lnnisfail Arena in a phased approach.
This plan complies and aligns with the directives, requirements and recommendations of provincial health authorities, directly reflecting the most recent set of guidelines pertaining to the relaunch of Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation (Stage 2 – July 20, 2020).
The proposed plan is only intended as a starting point. Recognizing the evolving circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, the current plan allows the Town to adapt and respond as needed, retaining the ability to adjust our facility usage guidelines as deemed appropriate and/or necessary. The plan also establishes clarity around the roles, responsibilities and commitments of those using the facility.
Stage one has been established to allow users access to the ice surface in a safe and manageable way while adhering to Alberta Health Services guidelines.
In order to properly assess our ability to complete the enhanced cleaning that is required, the Town will need time. This assessment must be completed before we can consider granting public access to additional areas of the facility, such as changing rooms and viewing stands. If staff can successfully manage all necessary cleaning duties, the Town can begin the process of implementing the next stage of the plan.
Meeting the objectives of stage one will allow us to consider advancing to stage two. Your patience and cooperation are appreciated and will only help towards the success of stage one.
More information will be made available once a final draft of the plan has been completed. Watch the Town of Innisfail’s communication channels for updates in the upcoming days and weeks.
