In April, Innisfail Town Council proclaimed May 9-13 Economic Development Week to highlight the importance of the community working together towards a common goal – a strong and prosperous local economy.
Developed in 2016 by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) in 2016, this week is meant to promote awareness of local programs that stimulate economic growth and, in turn, improve the quality of life in communities everywhere.
In the last few months, the Town has rolled up its sleeves to implement initiatives that will tackle immediate priorities. Council recently adopted a new Community Economic Development Strategy, called Power of Place, that focuses on engaging the community. The Town also initiated the Community Economic Development Advisory Committee, comprised of residents and local business leaders. This group, along with the Town, are working to forge a partnership with the Innisfail & District Chamber of Commerce.
These are long-term and ongoing initiatives. Continue to watch the Town’s communications channels for more information as we make progress towards a more prosperous future!
