The following are highlights from the regular meeting of council on Oct. 22, 2018:
Downtown Business Association Delegation
The Downtown Business Association has accumulated $12k in funds. As a final act before dissolving the Association, they would like to use these funds for the installation of a Town Clock located at banker’s corner. At a cost of $30k USD, they would like to see a partnership between the community, business, and the Town to complete the Town Clock project in 2019. Council will consider funding the project from the 2018 budget contingency.
Urban Chickens - Public Participation Report
A report was presented to council detailing the results from the Urban Chickens Survey held in Sept./Oct. Council accepted the report as information and will move forward with an in-depth review of the results.
Solid Waste Management
Administration presented a draft Request for Proposal for the 2019 Collection of Solid Waste, Recycling and Organics. Council approved the RFP as presented and it will be posted to APC with a Nov. 21, 2018 submission deadline for bidders.
Approval to Participate in the Rural Transportation Pilot Project
On March 12, 2018, Council accepted and endorsed the submission of a joint application (Innisfail, Penhold, Red Deer County, City of Red Deer) to the Rural Transportation Pilot Project. Funding, in the amount of $700k, has been acquired and council approved moving forward with the community busing pilot project.
Endorse a Joint Application for the Alberta Community Transit Fund
Alberta Transportation is accepting applications for the Alberta Community Transit Fund which supports municipal transit initiatives in and between communities to support a high quality of life for Albertans. Council endorsed the joint application (FCSS Innisfail, Penhold, Red Deer County, City of Red Deer) for the purchase of two transit buses.
Council proclaimed November 2018 to be Seniors' Falls Prevention month in the Town of Innisfail.
Sanitary Main Line and Manhole Rehabilitation 2018-2019
Council approved the award of the Sanitary Main Line and Manhole Rehabilitation for 2018/2019 work to Advanced Trenchless Inc. for $514,451.07 and approved the total project budget in the amount of $665,896.18 with funding from the Small Communities Fund.
2018 3rd Quarter Financial Statements
Administration presented and council accepted the financial statements representing the second quarter of 2018 as presented.
