Community Plans & Projects
Municipal Development Plan
A municipal development plan (MDP) is a ‘road map’ that helps determine the desired long-term direction for a community. The Town’s current MDP was created in 1998 and consolidated in 2007. It is now due for an update and we’re looking to the community to help us ‘imagine’ the future of Innisfail.
Aquatic Centre Project
Since 2013 the Town of Innisfail has conducted two building assessment reports and one public engagement survey assessing the best options for the future of our Innisfail Aquatic Centre. These studies determined that investment is required in the Aquatic Centre to address deferred building maintenance, meet current accessibility standards, and provide improved amenities for our community.
In September of 2021, HCMA Architecture + Design provided a pre-design final report to Council. To read the full report, click here.
UPDATE – April 2023: The Town has now engaged a group of project stakeholders through the integrated project delivery (IPD) model. In the spring of 2023, the group delivered a validation report representing the IPD team’s collective effort to develop a design for the facility, validate costs and determine a schedule for construction.
Town of Innisfail Council and Administration continue to identify funding opportunities for the project.

Ball Diamond 7
With a funding contribution from council and the input and participation of a dedicated group of community members, significant improvements to ‘Ball Diamond 7’ (located adjacent to the Innisfail Arena) are now being undertaken and completed.
Council on Monday, April 12, 2021, awarded a contract to a local excavating company to commence a number of significant upgrades that will leave the diamond in a much more playable state — and as a result enhance its ability to host larger-scale ball tournaments and events going forward.
The project is being jointly undertaken by the Town and the Community Facility Enhancement Association (CFEA). The Town will cover the costs associated with construction of the site’s basic amenities (grading, grass, shale, fencing, etc.), while the CFEA over time will contribute to the development and installation of a number of enhanced features (such as irrigation, bleachers, concrete dugout with storage, scoreboard, lighting, etc.).

North Area Structure Plan
The Town of Innisfail is updating the North Area Structure Plan that was originally written in 2001. The plan will cover all of the lands in the north part of Innisfail with Highway 54 as its west boundary and the QE2 Highway as its east boundary.

Construction of Residential Units
The Town is seeking submissions from interested parties that can undertake the design and construction of single detached, semi-detached and rowhouse dwellings on Town-owned lots as required between spring 2024-2028. The Town is looking for ideas, concepts, designs and/or specific proposals for vacant parcels located in the Napoleon Meadows neighbourhood as the first project with additional work to take place within other Town-owned development areas. The Town is looking for a partner to create high-quality, innovative and marketable units over the next 5 years.
