Innisfail firefighters are the lifeblood of the community. They protect and serve with pride.
Prospective firefighters must be able and willing to commit to regular practices, training and callouts. As well, a strong degree of physical fitness and mental strength must be maintained. All training and equipment will be provided. If you feel you’ve got what it takes, and want to give back to your community in a truly meaningful way, consider becoming a firefighter today.

Fire Permits
Fire permits are required for burning activity within the Town of Innisfail.
Permits are issued in accordance with the Town’s Fire Bylaw. Failing to comply could result in fines ranging from $100 to $10,000. For more information on the bylaws and applications, download and review the following links:

Fire Bans & Advisories
Fire restrictions, as issued by the Town of Innisfail Fire Chief.
The Town of Innisfail is currently under a Fire Restriction as of Tuesday, May 30, 2023.
Small recreational fires are permitted provided they are:
- contained within an approved residential wood-burning firepit or fireplace.
- contained within cooking and heating appliances and are fueled by propane or natural gas.
- contained within industrial facilities for operational purposes.
- catalytic or infrared-style heaters.
This restriction applies to:
- Existing Fire Permits
- Issuing of New Fire Permits
- Any other form of outside burning
FIRE NOTICES
Conditions sometimes require the Town of Innisfail to issue fire notices. Notices reflect the degree of risk associated with permitting open burning.
Extreme
Open-air fires of any type are not allowed under any circumstance until the Fire Chief indicates otherwise. This includes, but is not limited to, backyard fire pits and campfires. As well, all fire permits issued by the Town of Innisfail are suspended until further notice. Certified gas fire pits and cooking appliances are still permitted.
High
No open air fires are allowed except those that are authorized by the Fire Chief and a burn permit has been issued by the Fire Chief.
Low
Open air fires are allowed anywhere within the Town of Innisfail as long as they are in compliance with the Town Fire Bylaw.

Fire Tours & Presentations
The Town of Innisfail’s Fire Department offers valuable educational experiences for a variety of ages.
Whether you’re interested in touring the Town’s Fire Hall, learning about fire safety, or taking part in a meet-and-greet with the Fire Chief, there are plenty of options available for your group, organization or classroom to learn about the Innisfail Fire Department and its wide and varied range of duties.
As well, a firefighter may be able to visit your facility directly to deliver a presentation on one of a variety of topics.*
