Water Conservation

Home 9 Water Conservation
Mandatory Water conservation is in effect between May 1 and September 30 every year.

The Town’s Utilities Bylaw 1701-2022 is included on our listing of Town Bylaws (click here).

Let’s all do our part, and use water wisely. Rain barrels are a great way to collect rainwater for outdoor use.

The Town of Innisfail’s Mandatory Water Conservation efforts as outlined in the Utilities Bylaw 1701-2022 are:

  • Watering ban between Noon and 7:00 pm for all homes every day.
  • All homes, anytime: turn your water off if it is running off your lawn and into the street or sewer system. Watering past the saturation point only wastes money and water.
  • Odd Number Homes: Water lawns on odd calendar days
  • Even Numbered Homes: Water lawns on even calendar days
  • Hand watering: Any home may water by hand with a water jug on any day of the week, at any time of day.
  • Residents with new sod or seeded lawns may water their lawns daily for a period not to exceed six (6) weeks provided that they do not do so between the hours of Noon and 7:00 p.m.
Demand for water is increasing in Alberta

“Alberta is currently in water shortage management stage 4 (out of 5), where multiple water management areas are impacted by water shortage. Alberta’s government is monitoring conditions and working closely with water users and local governments to help manage and conserve water where possible.” (From the Government of Alberta, www.alberta.ca/drought)
